This week we said ‘bon voyage’ to our Operations Manager Jarrod Cook, who is off on an exciting adventure. Jarrod has been awarded Nuffield Australia’s Northern Pastoral Scholarship and joins more than 80 Nuffield Scholars in Canada on the first leg of his journey.https://www.nuffield.com.au/jarrod-cook-2023. Nothing gets us more excited and prouder than to see our staff kicking goals and achieving success, and a Nuffield Scholarship is one of the highest honours there is in agricultural circles.

The experience and opportunities that Nuffield Australia can provide is only limited by your imagination. We know first-hand how invaluable this global experience is, with Kara Knudsen completing her Scholarship in 2013.

We wish Jarrod safe travels and unforgettable experiences in his pursuit of new and innovative ways to prepare cattle for feedlot entry. Home might feel a long way away, but the opportunity to soak up knowledge and fresh ideas from all around the world will be invaluable, and we look forward to hearing and implementing his learnings on his return.

While we could give all the kudos to Jarrod, ‘it takes a village’ and having our operations manager away has allowed others to step up and out of their comfort zone to gain valuable management experience in making decisions to show that the growth is not only in the individual but in the organisation itself.

We are thankful to those that are ‘holding down the fort’ and who knows, maybe there is another scholar in our midst! We place significant value on the benefit to ourselves and to our industry in quality agricultural education. Currently, many of our staff are completing studies from Cert III in Agriculture, apprenticeships and university studies to MLA EDGE courses.
